I am a PhD student in New Testament, and I am particularly interested in the fascinating early phase of Christianity and how Christians used and thought of their sacred texts.

My special focus is New Testament Textual Criticism, which deals with all the manuscripts that contain New Testament writings. These manuscripts are copies made by hand through the centuries as copies of copies that ultimately go back to the authors. Some of these manuscripts are small and fragmentary while others contain the entire Bible. Some are very old, and others are younger, and the text in one manuscript is always at least a bit different from all other manuscripts. They are all part of the history of the New Testament, and they inform us about how Christians have used and understood the Bible throughout history. We also use these manuscripts to publish the earliest version of the New Testament, which is the edition that is then translated into our modern languages and used by all students of the Bible.
