Doctoral student in Old Testament Studies with a master’s degree in Old Testament studies from Lund University. I began my doctoral studies in September 2015.
My field of interest is the use and interpretation of the so called "imprecatory psalms" (passages from The Book of Psalms that invoke violence on enemies) in Jewish and Christian communities throughout time but with a special emphasis on modern liturgical use and reception. In my doctoral research I investigate how these texts are dealt with in different traditions, with special emphasis on contemporary Christian reception. The aim of the study is to evaluate how exegesis as an academic discipline can contribute, and develop in relation to, the questions and needs posed by contemporary worshipping communities that use the Book of Psalms for prayer and struggle with the partually violent content of their canonical text.
