As a Ph.D. student of Islamic studies, I am interested in contemporary Islam, specifically the anthropology of Islam. My doctoral project is an ethnographic work among Iranian Shii women, who are highly educated and at the same time very conservative in terms of religion. This study aims to go further than the secular/Islamic dichotomy by observing the richness and complexity of the experiences of these women, who have connections with both sides. Through this project, I expect to explore and analyze how these women express themselves as Muslims and humans.
My educational background is so diverse: I have a bachelor's in Physics (SUT, Iran), a Master's degree in Art Studies (Art University, Iran), and a second Master's degree in Middle Eastern Studies (Stockholm University, Sweden). However, the themes of Islam, Iran, and gender have always been present in my works and areas of interest, as my current project is also located at the intersection of these themes.
