I'm a biblical scholar specialising in biblical reception history. I came to Lund in 2022 to take up a Wallenberg Academy Fellowship. Before that, I was Senior Lecturer and then Reader in Biblical Studies at the University of Chichester, UK.

My first book was on Jacques Derrida, animal studies, and the Bible (Biblical Animality after Jacques Derrida, SBL Press, 2018). More recently, I have been researching Bible-use in the contemporary European far right. With Ulrich Schmiedel I wrote The Claim to Christianity: Responding to the Far Right (SCM Press, 2020), and my monograph, The Bibles of the Far Right is due to be published in 2024 (Oxford University Press).

Currently, I am leading a Wallenberg-funded project, 'Scripture and Secularism' (2022-2027), with a team of postdocs and a doctoral student, exploring the relationship between the Bible and secularization.

In the Research Portal you can search and find information about all active researchers, units, publications, projects, infrastructures, and more, to get an overview of Lund University research.
