A Hierarchical Shadow Volume Algorithm
The shadow volume algorithm is a popular technique for real-time shadow generation using graphics hardware. Its major disadvantage is that it is inherently fillrate-limited, as the performance is inversely proportional to the area of the projected shadow volumes. We present a new algorithm that reduces the shadow volume rasterization work significantly. With our algorithm, the amount of per-pixel

Inside Pulsating White Dwarfs: Clues from time-resolved spectroscopy
Popular Abstract in Swedish Pulserande stjärnrester (OBS! Som i de allra flesta stjärnor, pågår även i solen's innersta delar kärn reaktiSeveral analyses using time-resolved optical spectrocopy of pulsating white dwarfs are presented. The data have been put to a number of uses. First, line-of-sight velocities associated with the pulsations have been measured in three hydrogen-atmosphere white dwarfs (DAVs), bringing the total number of such measurements up to five. They have also been measured for the first time in a pulsating heli
Sustainable agriculture : an issue for society and business
How can we create sustainable agriculture, capable of feeding the soon to be 10 billion people of the earth, and at the same time preserve the ecosystems of the species that coexist with us on this planet? A team from Lund University in Sweden attempts to answer this tricky question.
Exploring Early Christian Identity
A research anthology from the project "Christian Identity - the First 100 Years" (funded by Bank of Sweden Tercentenary Foundation, 2003-06). Each project participant submitted one chapter summarizing his research on various aspects of the project theme.
Art and National Identity – Sweden and Lithuania
The purpose of this paper is to present some reflections on the relationship between the production of contemporary art and the function of national identities in our Scandinavian and Baltic countries. The main assumption of the paper is a non-essentialist one: the author assumes that national identity, like art and the context(s) of the art-world(s), is something which is produced and socially co
The Role of Nature in Swedish Ecotourism
Our purpose in this paper is to discuss Swedish nature in a specific context, namely that of ecotourism. The wider framework is the concept of cultural economy in relation to nature. Nature is culturally constructed – given meaning – by the actual doings of e.g. ecotourism operators, and this meaning is transformed into cash flows through tourist practices. It is this cultural construction of natu

Selections from the GHRS atlas of chi Lupi
High S/N echelle data of chi Lupi have been obtained at 36 different wavelength settings. The high resolution of the observations combined with the low rotational velocity of chi Lupi (v sin i approximate to 1 km s(-1)), allow the UV spectrum of this star to be seen with unprecedented detail, and provides a unique resource for the study of both atomic physics and stellar atmospheres.

Experimental Neuroretinal Transplantation
Embryonic full-thickness rabbit neuroretinal sheets were transplanted to the subretinal space of adult hosts. This was accomplished by using a new transplantation technique involving vitrectomy and retinotomy. The grafts were followed from 10 to 306 days after surgery, and were then examined by different histological techniques. In the light microscope, the transplants were seen to develop the nor
