The creative place: the impact of different environmental factors on creativity

In this chapter, different perspectives of the creative place are presented. A main division between cultural and psychosocial factors on the one side and physical aspects on the other side is outlined. Among the cultural and psychosocial factors, there are individual, organizational and cultural sources of impact that may affect the possibilities for creativity and among physical factors, the arc

The Donor Tribe

Describes the activity of international donors in the development aid process, and the hidden values and structures behind aid-giving.

Desulfurisation of Tabas Coal by Thiobacillus Ferrooxidans

The average sulfur content of Tabas coal contained in the Parvadeh coalfield is approximately 1.5%. For the purpose of the conduct of the desulfurization program, a sample of high sulfur coal has been used. The coal was subjected to desulfurization tests using Thiobacillus ferrooxidans (DSM 581) in two different media and then was characterized using infrared spectroscopy. The reduction in total s

No title

The book analyzes each of the ten plays written by Lucian Blaga, with a focus both on Romanian mythology/history/cultural identity and on the European influences (such as philosophical - Spengler, Nietzsche etc., psychological - Jung, Freud, literary - Wedekind, Strindberg.). All plays are related to Lucian Blaga's larger work - poetry, philosophy, essay, memoirs.

Spectroscopic Studies of the Elements Ba, Fe, Ga, In and Ru

Om man tittar upp på stjärnhimlen en klar vintNew measurements of the elements Ba, Fe, Ga, In and Ru are reported. The analysis of barium contains new wavelengths, improved energy level values and new values of the ionization limit in both Ba I and Ba II. Oscillator strengths and radiative lifetimes in Fe II, as a part of the FERRUM project, are reported. The gallium analysis includes new wavelengths, ab initio calculated oscillator strengths

Global fresh food tracking service enabled by wide area wireless sensor network

A global fresh food tracking service is presented, in which a set of primary environmental conditions for transport of fresh fruits and vegetables, including global position, temperature, relative humidity, concentrations of CO2, O2 and ethylene gases and 3-axis acceleration, is collected through mobile and remotely controllable wireless sensor nodes. Real time monitoring, tracking, alarming, clos

Islam in Europe: Public Spaces and Civic Networks

Islam in Europe delves into the daily routines of European Muslim communities in order to provide a better understanding of what it means to be a European Muslim today. Instead of positing particular definitions of being Muslim, this volume invites and encourages a diverse body of 735 informants from Belgium, France, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK to reflect on who they are and on the meaning

Studies of chlorophyll-a levels in the North Aegean Sea using SeaWiFS data

The hydrographical characteristics of the North Aegean Sea (NAS) have been studied using in-situ data and thermal NOAA AVHRR data. Lately, efforts to simulate the circulation patterns in the NAS have also been performed. Thus, it has been found that the discharge of water of Black Sea origin (BSW) affects extensive areas of the NAS surface waters. Another meso-scale phenomenon is the extensive upw

The Bioeconomy: An Introduction to the World of Bioenergy

Bioenergy is booming around the world and with the expansion comes exciting opportunities and some disturbing risks. Learning about bioenergy – from technologies, to resources, to policies – is important to the success and sustainability of the bioeconomy. This interactive guide opens the door to understanding and engaging in the transition from the fossil-based economy to a bio-based economy. The

Simultaneous Reconstruction of Scene Structure and Camera Locations from Uncalibrated Image Sequences

The paper deals with the structure-motion problem for images of point configurations taken by uncalibrated cameras. Using a parametrisation by affine shape and kinetic depth, a complete and explicit characterisation of the imaging geometry is given, including the shape of the object configuration and the positions of the cameras relative to the scene. No epipolar geometry is used. It is shown that
