Likt ett brustet halleluja : trons och tvivlets tematik i Christine Falkenlands prosa
This dissertation is a study of the Christian thematics in the novels of Christine Falkenland. It has two basic aims. First, to demonstrate how Christine Falkenland writes herself into, and becomes a distinct voice in, a Christian literary tradition, while simultaneously breaking with this tradition by staging and portraying modern people’s questioning of the Christian worldview. Second, to uncove

Surface-Induced Modification of Supported Late Transition Metal Complexes
Popular Abstract in English In our current world, the exponential growth in demand for smaller and faster devices leads to the fact that we will eventually face the problem that traditional semiconductor technologies will reach their limitation in terms of size and speed. Humanity's consciousness to tackle the global ecological issues in the next decade, will demand the substitution of all non-reuThe work presented in this thesis addresses the investigation of the electronic, magnetic, and structural properties of late transition metal complexes supported on various surfaces. The research is aimed at studying the interaction between the molecules and the support, together with the intermolecular interaction. This knowledge is essential e.g. for the development of organic molecule-based dev
Modern War on an Ancient Battlefield: The Diffusion of Military Technology and Ideas in the Chinese Civil War, 1946-49
This article studies a hitherto unexplored dimension of the Chinese Civil War: the disparity between modern military technology and the conceptual and logistical capacities of the two warring sides. The author argues that the advanced weaponry, received by the Nationalists from their ally, the United States, but often captured on the battlefield by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) forces, proved

Discovery of targets for tumor immunotherapy using phage display technology
This thesis has focused on the development of methods and their applications for the identification of antibodies reactive with tumor associated antigens (TAA). The phage display technology provides a powerful mean to generate antibodies potentially useful for tumor immunotherapy. A phage antibody displays on its surface an antibody fragment encoded by a gene inserted in the phage genome. The phag

Continuous Improvements at Work - a Programme in an Inter-Disciplinary Research Centre on Humans, Technology and Change at Work
The aim of this programme is to contribute to the scientific and practical knowledge about continuous improvements (CI) at work. Some of the principles of CI like: the emphasis on small and incremental changes, the use of structured tools for problem-solving and the monitoring of improvements, and the responsibility of operative personnel for the CI activity rather than experts and task-forces, ar

New Insights into Fish Ecology via Nuclear Microscopy of Otoliths
Otoliths, or earstones, are small, biogenic concretions of aragonitic calcium carbonate precipitated on a protein matrix. Otoliths form part of the hearing and balance system in teleost fishes, and grow as the fish grow, providing a continuous biochronology of growth. Various elements are entrained in minor and trace quantities. In particular, strontium is a useful scalar of habitat use when varia
Development of Nanoimprint Lithography for Applications in Electronics, Photonics and Life-sciences
Detta skiljer sig från de mer etablerade mönstringsThis thesis describes different aspects of nanotechnology manufacturing with nanoimprint lithography (NIL), a relatively new nanofabrication tool capable of high resolution and high throughput. Surface structure creation with NIL is based on mechanical deformation of the patterning material. This is radically different from the two main established methods, ultra violet lithography (UVL) and elect
Flow Measurements via Two-Particle Azimuthal Correlations in Au+Au Collisions at sqrt[sNN]=130 GeV
Two-particle azimuthal correlation functions are presented for charged hadrons produced in Au+Au collisions at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (sqrt[sNN]=130 GeV). The measurements permit determination of elliptic flow without event-by-event estimation of the reaction plane. The extracted elliptic flow values (v2) show significant sensitivity to both the collision centrality and the transverse
COOLED PLATE TESTS ON TEXTILE MATERIALS IN SIMULATED COCKPIT UNDER “SOLAR RADIATION”
This study investigated if clothing material with reflective properties has an effect on heat gain in pilot, specifically, under solar radiation. Two materials, conventional pilot suit material (Old) and material coated with coldblack® (New, Schoeller Technologies AG, Switzerland) were tested over variety of underwear layers and in a box simulating cockpit. A hot plate was used to measure textile
VLSI implementation issues of lattice decoders for MIMO systems
Lattice decoders for MIMO systems, including the sphere decoder (SD) and the Schnorr-Euchner (SE) decoder, have been shown to approach the performance of Maximum-likelihood decoder with low complexity. There are three kinds of lattice decoder, sequential SD, K-best SD and sequential SE, which are popular in the literature. As a modification to the K-best SD, a lower complexity K-best SE is propose
Environmental and domestic risk factors for respiratory symptoms in Nicaraguan children
BackgroundRespiratory diseases are the most common cause for seeing a doctor in Nicaragua, and the second most common cause of death in children. An air monitoring program in the capital city, Managua, has shown high levels of air pollution, especially small particles. Important sources for this pollution are road traffic, smoke from cooking with wood, from burning of sugar cane fields before harv
