Refinement of breast cancer molecular classification by miRNA expression profiles

BACKGROUND: Accurate classification of breast cancer using gene expression profiles has contributed to a better understanding of the biological mechanisms behind the disease and has paved the way for better prognostication and treatment prediction.RESULTS: We found that miRNA profiles largely recapitulate intrinsic subtypes. In the case of HER2-enriched tumors a small set of miRNAs including the H

Manned Missions, Geoengineering and Planetary Protection : How Safe is Safe Enough?

If we ever decide to start geoengineering another world, and maybe even terraform a world that is not presently habitable for humans, it is also highly probable that it will become less habitable for any indigenous life. Making sure, or at least trying to determine the probability that a potentially habitable world is in fact uninhabited will thus be an important step before we start any geo-engin

Kunskapssammanställning om sprutfria kantzoner

Det finns en rad anledningar till varför ett allt intensivare brukande avjordbrukslandskapen i många industrialiserade länder, t.ex. i Europa, lett till att denbiologiska mångfalden minskat. Även om förlusten av mer eller mindre naturliga habitat är en viktig orsak till den minskade mångfalden, har den biologiskamångfalden påverkats starkt av intensivare odling på fälten. En viktig orsak till dett

Added value of double reading in diagnostic radiology,a systematic review

Objectives: Double reading in diagnostic radiology can find discrepancies in the original report, but a systematic program of double reading is resource consuming. There are conflicting opinions on the value of double reading. The purpose of the current study was to perform a systematic review on the value of double reading. Methods: A systematic review was performed to find studies calculating th

Cholecystektomy in hamster and mouse: Trophic effects on the pancreas and colon?

Cholecystectomy has been suggested to be a predisposing factor for both pancreatic and colonic cancer. We therefore investigated whether cholecystectomy caused any trophic effects on the pancreas and colon in the hamster and mouse. Cholecystectomy was performed on 13 hamsters and 11 mice. Seven of the hamsters and 6 of the mice were killed after 6 weeks, and 6 hamsters and 7 mice were killed after

French liaison in second language acquisition

This introduction to the special issue presents a brief overview of the phonological phenomenon of liaison in French, drawing on the morphosyntactic contexts of its use by native speakers. We outline previous research on liaison in second language acquisition, focusing on the challenges this phenomenon presents to learner comprehension and production, and on major findings in each area. We then pr

Having in Common > Being in Common

Dans cette introduction, nous caractérisons le phénomène phonologique que constitue la liaison en français en faisant référence à ses contextes d’emploi morphosyntaxiques. Ensuite, nous présentons un court survol des recherches antérieures sur l’acquisition de la liaison en langue seconde du point de vue du défi qu’elle pose par rapport à sa compréhension chez l’apprenant, ainsi que par rapport à
