Low complexity computation of the BT0 Hilbert twisted pair cable model

By use of the Hilbert transform the standardized BT0 twisted pair cable model can be rederived as a causal model with lower order, denoted BT0$_H$. In the present contribution the computational complexity of the BT0$_H$ model is decreased as the Hilbert transform is approximated with a look-up table implemented as a polynomial approximation. This results in a model of lower complexity than BT0$_H$

Interactions between bacterial surface proteins and components of the fibrinolytic and contact phase systems

This thesis describes novel molecular host-parasite interactions with potential significance for the understanding of pathological processes manifested with bacterial infections. Bacterial surface proteins and virulence determinants are shown to mediate the accumulation at the surface of the pathogen of key components of the fibrinolytic and contact phase systems. Plasmin(ogen) binding surface pr

Temporal variation and phytotoxicity of Batatasin-III produced by Empetrum hermaphroditum

In northern Sweden, the clonal dwarf shrub Empetrum hermaphroditum Hagerup exerts strong inhibitory effects on other plant species. These inhibitory effects may, at least in part, be attributed to the high production of the secondary metabolite, batatasin-III, which is released from leaves and transported to the soil by rain (throughfall) and snowmelt. Considerable amounts of batatasin-III are als

Experiments and modelling of fracture initiation at impact

Det visar sig att en beskrivning av terThe thesis addresses different questions, each necessary in the understanding of dynamic fracture initiation and crack propagation in steel. Emphasis lays on dynamic crack propagation experiments performed in the ductile to brittle transition region and possible conclusions, that can be drawn from them. One question regards the physical basis for for viscoplasticity. Dislocation slip by thermal a

Lipocalins

Less than a decade has elapsed since the publication in 2000 of the first anthology devoted to lipocalins (Biochim Biophys Acta 1482, 2000), and only a few years since the first Lipocalin International Symposium in Copenhagen in 2003 (Benzon Symposium no. 50 “The Lipocalin Protein Superfamily,” Copenhagen, 2003) and the introduction of a public lipocalin website (http://www.jenner.ac.uk/lipocalins

Efficiency considerations for DT-CNN hardware

Cellular Neural Networks have become a popular paradigm for modeling nonlinear systems. First-hand implementations are in software on floating-point platforms for pure performance, while programmable analog circuitry has been tested for embedded low-power applications. The paper discusses gradual algorithmic and structural improvements that bring efficient digital hardware into consideration. This
