Change and Legitimation : Social Democratic Governments and Higher Education Policies in Sweden and Germany
DetHigher education has become a mega-topic in both political and scientific debate. Developments in systems of higher education and changes in the governance of such systems have been discussed in the literature. Such changes are brought about by collective actors within institutional settings. The present volume considers the policies of higher education supported by Social Democratic governments i

The Proof of the Gibbard-Satterthwaite Theorem Revisited
This paper provides three short and very simple proofs of the classical Gibbard-Satterthwaite theorem. The theorem is first proved in the case with only two individuals in the economy. The many individual case follows then from an induction argument (over the number of individuals). The proof of the theorem is further simplified when the voting rule is assumed to be neutral

Asymptotically Good LDPC Convolutional Codes with AWGN Channel Thresholds Close to the Shannon Limit
In this paper, we perform an iterative decoding threshold analysis of LDPC block code ensembles formed by terminating (J,K)-regular and irregular AR4JA-based LDPC convolutional codes. These ensembles have minimum distance growing linearly with block length and their thresholds approach the Shannon limit as the termination factor tends to infinity. Results are presented for various ensembles and te
Vikten av Vinst - En studie om syftets betydelse i bolagsstyrning
This study focuses on the purpose of commercial operations as a key factor in the governance of firms. The background is that the extensive discussions about the purpose of the firm, primarily within the economic and legal disciplines, have for a long time been polarized between two positions: shareholder primacy and stakeholder theory. These discussions are carried out in in the context of consid

How smart are electricity users with ‘Smart Metering’? A Behavioural Economics experiment
The purpose of this paper is to examine how behavioural biases affect consumers’ response to energy-use information provided through smart meters (SM). We take insights from behavioural economics and carry out two real-life experiments with SMs and electricity users. The experiments were conducted in Copenhagen (Denmark) to identify and assess the potential of two economic behavioural biases, sali

Modern Human Physiology with Respect to Evolutionary Adaptations that Relate to Diet in the Past
This paper reviews evidence from human physiology as to which foods may have been typically consumed by the hominin ancestral lineage up to the advent of anatomically modern humans. Considerable evidence suggests that many common diseases can be prevented by hunter-gatherer diets. Apparently, human nutritional metabolism is not perfectly fine-tuned for recently introduced staple foods, such as cer

This paper presents a general view, from a Swedish perspective, of one of the less known Queens of Sweden, Isabella (Elisabeth) of Habsburg. She was the daughter of Philip I and Joan I of Castile, and thus the sister of the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V. She married the Danish-Norwegian-Swedish King Christian II, in Sweden generally known as Christian the Tyrant. After a short biography of the Scan
