The Tupian Expansion
This chapter explores the expansion of the Tupian peoples across greater Amazonia to better understand the mechanisms and processes of cultural and linguistic contact and change. Tupian languages are or were spoken among indigenous groups distributed from the Brazilian Atlantic coast through Paraguay to the eastern Andean slopes of Peru. The investigation uses GIS (Geographical Information Systems

Off-task Engagement in a Teachable Agent based Math Game
A previous study compared two student groups that played a mathematics game based on a teachable agent. One group played with, and the other without, the inclusion of a social conversation module: a chat between the student and the teachable agent. Results were that students who used the game with the chat included had a more positive experience of the game and learned more in the sense of teachin
Inter-system handover on a cellular level in a hierarchical structure
Within this paper a simulation model of a hierarchical structure with three levels with different wireless systems is presented and investigated. The analysis is placed on a cellular level to better understand the user behavior. Modeled is a city environment, where the focus is made on the inter-system handovers between the different wireless systems and how they are affected by the change of diff

New Isomers in the Neutron-Rich Region Beyond 208Pb
The region of neutron-rich nuclei beyond 208Pb has been very difficult to explore due to its high mass and exoticity. However, recent experimental improvements allowed one to perform a quite extended isomer decay spectroscopy of these nuclei.

8He-6He: a comparative study of electromagnetic fragmentation reactions
Dissociation of a 227 MeV/u 8He beam in a lead target has been studied in a kinematically complete experiment. The results are compared with similar data from the well-known halo nucleus 6He. Coulomb–nuclear interference in the inelastic channel gives evidence for a Iπ=1− resonance in 8He at Ex=4.15 MeV. The deduced B(E1) value of 0.38±0.07 e2 fm2 indicates a uniform distribution of the four neutr
Starch in Processed Potatoes -Influence of Tuber Structure, Thermal Treatments and Amylose/Amylopectin Ratio
Ökade krav på snabb och enkel tilThe potato is one of our most important food crops, being sold in its natural state or processed into a wide range of products. Starch, by far the most abundant component in the tuber, is greatly affected by heat processing. Therefore it is logical to study starch thermal properties within the tuber tissue, although most previous studies have focused on starch-water model systems. One of the main
A Current Swedish Survey on Attitudes to Science-and-Religion
Uttalade ateister uppfattar i hög utsträckni
Challenges in Designing Resilient Socio-technical Systems: A Case Study of Railway Tunnel Projects
This paper presents a case study of decision-making at the design stage of a socio-technical system where resilience at the global level of the system was constrained by the local perspectives adopted by the different stakeholders. The study is based on interviews with key decision-makers involved in the design stage of six railway tunnel projects in Sweden. The results show that differences in ro

Core-Level Expansion of Compressed Test Patterns
The increasing test-data volumes needed for the testing of system-on-chip (SOC) integrated circuits lead to long test-application times and high tester memory requirements. Efficient test planning and test-data compression are therefore needed. We present an analysis to highlight the fact that the impact of a test-data compression technique on test time and compression ratio are method-dependant a
