Kosmiskt Ljus

Titta upp nattetid. Med deras hjälp upptäcker vi hur nya stjärnor bildas, utvecklas ochLook up at night. You will see stars and constellations, the Moon and maybe even a few planets. But there is more out there. Our Universe is huge and we need large telescopes, both ground based and space based, to observe it. Telescopes can show us distant galaxies, nebulae and the light that our eyes can not register. With their help we discover how stars are born, how they evolve and explode. Wit

Hur vi nu haIn this planetariumshow our visitors get to meet an astronomer from Lund Observatory who explains not only what we know about our Universe, but also how we know what we know. Have you ever wondered how we measure distances to stars and galaxies? How new stars are formed, how they evolve and why they explode? Do you wonder if there is life out there? How big our Universe is? How we have now discove

I denna planetariumvisning tar vi oss ut i rymden, reser bland planEight planets orbit our star, the Sun, along with dwarf planets, comets and asteroids. Astronauts have traveled to (and walked upon) the Moon, while our neighboring planets have been visited by an armada of space probes and rovers, which have returned data and images back to us. From these we are constantly learning new things about our Solar System. This planetarium show takes us flying out into s

Leaving the White Cube of Ekprhasis : Gordon Matta-Clark’s Conical Intersection

Ekprhasis as architectural event is discussed in the frame of agential realismThis chapter reconsiders the conventional conceptualization of ekphrasis as a “double representation”. In a case study, intertwining ancient rhetoric with contemporary agential rhetoric, we present Gordon Matta-Clark’s (1943-78) Conical Intersect (Paris, 1975) as ekphrasis in its reality-producing dimension and beyond the subjectivism of intentional actions. In our proposal, we introduce ekphrasis

Online High Resolution Stochastic Radiation Radar Imaging using Sparse Covariance Fitting

Stochastic radiation radar (SRR) systems allow for the forming of radar images by transmitting stochastic signals to form the stochastic radiation field and thereby increase the target observation information to achieve high resolution imaging. In this paper, we examine the use of the online SParse Iterative Covariance-based Estimation (SPICE) algorithm to suppress the noise and improve the operat

Surface Classification with Millimeter-Wave Radar Using Temporal Features and Machine Learning

Classification of surfaces using millimeter-wave radar commonly considers the use of polarization-based methods for road condition monitoring. When a surface consists of larger structures, one is instead often interested in monitoring the surface topography, which is typically not resolvable by the limited radar bandwidth. To alleviate this problem, we here consider several phase coherent radar me

As there are planets orbiting our own star, the Sun, we have now started discovering planets orbiting distant stars, out in the galaxy. Specially designed space based telescopes, such as COROT and Kepler, are together with ground based telescopes gathering and analyzing light from distant stars, looking for hits that these stars may harbor exoplanets.
