Telling stories and witty sayings play a formative role in any society. In antiquity and the middle ages they were the basic tools for learning to read and write, for training in rhetoric but also for studying practical philosophy.
The rise of monasticism provided new texts to replace the Greek classics and these were handed on in thousands of manuscripts in dozens of languages throughout the Christianized world. In this course you will make use of a unique database and interface developed at Lund University Monastica to learn how to read and compare manuscripts (Greek and Latin), analyse text evolution, understand adaptations across Christian cultures and acquire basic competence in digital methods.
To be eligible for bachelor's courses you must meet the entry requirements. Even if you hold a higher academic degree, you need to document your basic knowledge of English and also add your upper secondary school records at the same time you apply.
