The war on ‘woke’: anti-ESG investing and research directions in financial geography
Environmental, social and governance (ESG) investing has become a site of struggle, around which a range of actors at multiple scales and in different legal, political andfinancial spheres are mobilising. We delve into four dynamics that characterise thisquickly changing landscape and propose a set of conceptual avenues to analysethem. Gramscian political economy, legal geographies and science and
A new ostracode fauna from the Permian-Triassic boundary in Turkey (Taurus, Antalya Nappes)
The Permian - Triassic boundary of the Çürük daǧsection (Taurus, Antalya Nappes, Turkey) was sampled for ostracodes. 38 species belonging to 22 genera were discovered. This ostracode fauna is the first one described throughout the Permian - Triassic boundary outside of South China. Six species are new: Sargentina pamucakensis Crasquin-Soleau n. sp., Bairdia kemerensis Crasquin-Soleau n, sp., Baird
High-resolution carbon isotope changes, litho- and magnetostratigraphy across Permian-Triassic Boundary sections in the Dolomites, N-Italy. New constraints for global correlation
The Siusi/Seis section has been measured for the δ13C signature across the Permian-Triassic Boundary (PTB) in high resolution on magnetostratigraphic samples from Scholger et al. (2000), enabling an exact correlation with magnetostratigraphic data. We show that the base of the short normal polarity magnetozone that has been reported from the evento-stratigraphic boundary correlates with a distinct
Parameter Estimation in Land Surface Models : Challenges and Opportunities With Data Assimilation and Machine Learning
Accurately predicting terrestrial ecosystem responses to climate change over long-timescales is crucial for addressing global challenges. This relies on mechanistic modeling of ecosystem processes through land surface models (LSMs). Despite their importance, LSMs face significant uncertainties due to poorly constrained parameters, especially in carbon cycle predictions. This paper reviews the prog
Calcimicrobial cap rocks from the basal Triassic units : Western Taurus occurrences (SW Turkey)
A post-extinction calcimicrobial cap rock occurs above the giant Permian skeletal carbonate platform exposed in the western Taurus Mountains (southern Turkey). It was formed during the main step of a very rapid and large-scale platform flooding (Earliest Triassic) and has been found also in other Tethyan localities. This calcimicrobial cap rock, 20 to 40 pm thick, consists of thrombolitic and stro
Sleep Measurement in Osteoarthritis and Inflammatory Arthritis : A Systematic Scoping Review Protocol
Background: Osteoarthritis (OA) and inflammatory arthritis (IA), including rheumatoid arthritis (RA), psoriatic arthritis (PsA), and axial spondylarthritis (axSpA), are leading causes of disability worldwide, significantly impacting health and quality of life. Sleep issues are highly prevalent in these populations, exacerbating pain, fatigue, and disease activity. However, there is a dearth of evi
Dialogic Organizing : Affirming public engagement for hope and solidarity
This special issue introduction explores dialogic organizing centred on affirming public engagement for hope and solidarity. We propose ways of retheorizing and revitalizing dialogic perspectives and practices. In so doing we take our cue a Bakhtinian understanding of dialogue; however, we suggest that it is necessary to move beyond this foundational understanding. Instead, it needs to be read in
Senolytic Interventions for Type 2 Diabetes : Current Evidence and Future Directions
Cellular senescence, a phenomenon characterized by the accumulation of dysfunctional, metabolically active cells, is increasingly recognized to be a key player in aging-related metabolic disorders. It is accelerated by hyperglycemia through various molecular pathways, positioning it as a critical mechanism in the pathophysiology of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2D) and a potential therapeutic target.
Probing freeze-in via invisible Higgs decay
In this work, we explore Higgs boson decays into dark matter (DM) within the context of the freeze-in mechanism under stronger coupling scenarios. Our analysis focuses on scalar DM candidates interacting through the Higgs portal, where the coupling strength can be significant without establishing thermal equilibrium, owing to a suppressed reheating temperature. We find that for DM masses as low as
Structural optimization for frictionless contact
Structural optimization aims to find the geometry of the best performing design in a predefined setting, using mathematical techniques. The motivation for this study can be categorized into three main benefits: efficient material usage, enhancing existing designs and enabling new technologies. All of these benefits are crucial for solving contemporary technological and environmental challenges. An
Timber use, timber trade and dendrochronological data in Denmark and Sweden in the medieval and early modern era

The lower Triassic anachronistic carbonate facies in space and time
The end-Permian mass extinction greatly affected the sedimentary record, but the sedimentary response was not limited to the Permian-Triassic boundary interval. This transformation extended to sedimentation that spanned the entire Early Triassic. Calcimicrobialites play an important role throughout this time interval, and at least four main events of anomalous carbonate deposition can be shown. A
SIEGE III. The formation of dense stellar clusters in sub-parsec resolution cosmological simulations with individual star feedback
Star clusters stand at the crossroads between galaxies and single stars. Resolving the formation of star clusters in cosmological simulations represents an ambitious and challenging goal, since modelling their internal properties requires very high resolution. This paper is the third of a series within the SImulating the Environment where Globular clusters Emerged (SIEGE) project, where we conduct
Authors’ Perspective on the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation Consensus Statement on Risk Stratification in Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension
Cost-effectiveness of prophylaxis against on-demand treatment in boys with severe hemophilia A in Iran.
Objective: The aim of this study was to assess the incremental cost-effectiveness of on-demand versus prophylactic hemophilia therapy in Iran from a third-party payers’ perspective. Methods: A retrospective chart review of twenty-five type A hemophiliacs who were treated in three hemophilia treatment centers was conducted. The patients were boys 0–9 years old receiving one of two treatments: (i) pr
Earliest Triassic microbialites in Çürük Dag, southern Turkey : Composition, sequences and controls on formation
The Permian-Triassic Boundary sequence at Çürük Dag, near Antalya, Turkey, begins with a major erosion surface interpreted as being the Late Permian lowstand, on which lies ca 0·4m of grainstone/packstone composed of ooids, peloids and bioclasts. Most ooids are superficial coats on fragments of calcite crystals presumed to be eroded from crystal fans which are no longer present. The erosion surfac
Impact of surgical specialization on long-term survival after emergent colon cancer resections
Background: The impact of surgical specialization on long-term survival in patients undergoing emergent colon cancer resections remains unclear. Method: A retrospective analysis was conducted on all patients who underwent emergent colon cancer resections at a secondary care hospital between 2010 and 2020. The most senior surgeon performing the procedures was classified as colorectal surgeon (CS) o
Risk assessment models and survival in pulmonary arterial hypertension : A SPAHR analysis
CD4 effector T cell expansion to identify objective responses to the CD40 agonist mitazalimab in combination with modified FOLFIRINOX (mFFX) as first-line therapy for metastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (mPDAC) in the OPTIMIZE-1 study
Background: CD40 agonists have the potential to enhance the efficacy of standard of care chemotherapy and to trigger antitumor immunity. Preclinical models indicate that the success of this approach depends on appropriate sequencing of chemotherapy with a CD40 agonist. Preliminary efficacy results from the OPTIMIZE-1 Phase II study (NCT04888312) combining mitazalimab (anti-CD40) with mFFX chemothe
