Love and hate for the welfare state landscape

This paper investigates the often ambivalent assessment of the landscapes that have been shaped by Swedish modernity and the welfare policy. This ambivalence could be noticed in different medias, I would argue, for instance in art, photography and novels. In Lefebvrian terms I think you could identify an ongoing negotiation between the modern welfare state’s conceptualization of space and the live

Projectile fragmentation wall for CHICSi detector

The Forward Wall Detector (FWD) is designed to identify projectile-like fragments from heavy-ion reactions at the CELSIUS storage ring in Uppsala, Sweden. FWD covers the polar angle from 3.9° to 11.7° with geometrical efficiency of 81%. The single-detection module can be either of phoswich type (10 mm fast plastic+80 mm CsI(Tl)) or ΔE−E telescope (750 μm Si+80 mm CsI(Tl)). It is expected to have c

Interaction effects in the transport of particles in nanowire quantum dots

Interactions between physical bodies constantly affect their properties. This thesis presents a theoretical study on the effects of interaction in few-body nanowire quantum dots. The focus is to a large extent on a phenomenon called Wigner localization, and how this, as well as other interaction effects, can be identified in an experiment by transport spectroscopy and by thermopower measurements.

A General Method for Defining and Structuring Buffer Management Problems

In an industrial plant, availability is an important factor since increased availability often gives an increase of final production, which in many cases means an increased profit for the company. The purpose of using buffer tanks is to increase the availability either by separating production units from each other or by minimizing flow variations. However, the methods for achieving this goal is n

On MIMO capacity of a dual multiband antenna prototype with user interactions

This paper presents an evaluation of single input single output (SISO), single input multiple output (SIMO) and multiple input multiple output (MIMO) channel capacities for a dual antenna prototype in proximity of a user. The dual antenna prototype mimics today’s small mobile phone design in size and in comprising internal, compact, multi-band antennas. Four different user cases are evaluated by m
