Cholecystektomy in hamster and mouse: Trophic effects on the pancreas and colon?

Cholecystectomy has been suggested to be a predisposing factor for both pancreatic and colonic cancer. We therefore investigated whether cholecystectomy caused any trophic effects on the pancreas and colon in the hamster and mouse. Cholecystectomy was performed on 13 hamsters and 11 mice. Seven of the hamsters and 6 of the mice were killed after 6 weeks, and 6 hamsters and 7 mice were killed after

French liaison in second language acquisition

This introduction to the special issue presents a brief overview of the phonological phenomenon of liaison in French, drawing on the morphosyntactic contexts of its use by native speakers. We outline previous research on liaison in second language acquisition, focusing on the challenges this phenomenon presents to learner comprehension and production, and on major findings in each area. We then pr

Analyzing savannah vegetation phenology with remotely sensed data, lagged time-series models and phenopictures

It is predicted that savannah regions will see changes in precipitation patterns due to current climate change pro-jections. The change will most likely affect leaf phenology which controls net primary production. It is thereforeimportant to; 1) study those changes and its drivers, 2) to be able to correctly model the changes to vegetationphenology due to climate change. To our knowledge there is

Improving the Developability of an Antigen Binding Fragment by Aspartate Substitutions

Aggregation can be a major challenge in the development of antibody-based pharmaceuticals as it can compromise the quality of the product during bioprocessing, formulation, and drug administration. To avoid aggregation, developability assessment is often run in parallel with functional optimization in the early screening phases to flag and deselect problematic molecules. As developability assessme

Optimizing selectivity of anion hydrophobic multimodal chromatography for purification of a single-chain variable fragment

Single-chain variable fragments (scFv) are widely used in several fields. However, they can be challenging to purify unless using expensive Protein L-based affinity adsorbents or affinity tags. In this work, a purification process for a scFv using mixed-mode (MM) chromatography was developed by design of experiments (DoE) and proteomics for host cell protein (HCP) quantification. Capture of scFv f

Post cholecystectomy bile duct injury: early, intermediate or late repair with hepaticojejunostomy – an E-AHPBA multi-center study

Background: Treatment of bile duct injuries (BDI)during cholecystectomy depends on the severity of injury and the timing of diagnosis. Standard of care for severe BDIs is hepaticojejunostomy. The aim of this retrospective multi-center study was to assess the optimal timing for repair of BDI with hepaticojejunostomy. Methods: Members of the European-African HepatoPancreatoBiliary Association were i
