An innovative approach to predict technology evolution for the desoldering of printed circuit boards : A perspective from China and America

The printed circuit boards basis of electronic equipment have seen a rapid growth in recent years and played a significant role in modern life. Nowadays, the fact that electronic devices upgrade quickly necessitates a proper management of waste printed circuit boards. Non-destructive desoldering of waste printed circuit boards becomes the first and the most crucial step towards recycling electroni

On a sharp estimate for hankel operators and Putnam's inequality

We obtain a sharp norm estimate for Hankel operators with anti-analytic symbol for weighted Bergman spaces. For the classical Bergman space, the estimate improves the corresponding classical Putnam inequality for commutators of Toeplitz operators with analytic symbol by a factor of 1/2, answering a recent conjecture by Bell, Ferguson and Lundberg. As an application, this yields a new proof of the

The BALDER Beamline at the MAX IV Laboratory

X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) includes well-established methods to study the local structure around the absorbing element - extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS), and the effective oxidation number or to quantitatively determine the speciation of an element in a complex matrix - X-ray absorption near-edge structure (XANES). The increased brilliance and intensities available at the

Newton maps as matings of cubic polynomials

In this paper, we prove existence and uniqueness of matings of a large class of renormalizable cubic polynomials with one fixed critical point and the other cubic polynomial having two fixed critical points. The resulting mating is a Newton map. Our result is the first part toward a conjecture by L. Tan, stating that all (cubic) Newton maps can be described as matings or captures.

Gout in immigrant groups : a cohort study in Sweden

Our aim was to study the association between country of birth and incidence of gout in different immigrant groups in Sweden. The study population included the whole population of Sweden. Gout was defined as having at least one registered diagnosis in the National Patient Register. The association between incidence of gout and country of birth was assessed by Cox regression, with hazard ratios (HRs

Novel pyrazolylphosphite- and pyrazolylphosphinite-ruthenium(II) complexes as catalysts for hydrogenation of acetophenone

The new compounds and potential ligands 2-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)ethyldiphenlyphosphinite (L1), 2-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)ethyldiethylphosphite (L2), 2-(3,5-di-tert-butyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)ethyl-diethylphosphite (L3) and 2-(3,5-diphenyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)ethyldiethylphosphite (L4) were prepared from the reaction of (3,5-(disubstituted)pyrazol-1H-yl)ethanol and the appropriate ph

Predictors of work disability after start of anti-TNF therapy in a national cohort of Swedish patients with rheumatoid arthritis : Does early anti-TNF therapy bring patients back to work?

Objectives To examine predictors of work ability gain and loss after anti-tumour necrosis factor (TNF) start, respectively, in working-age patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) with a special focus on disease duration. Methods Patients with RA, aged 19-62 years, starting their first TNF inhibitor 2006-2009 with full work ability (0 sick leave/disability pension days during 3 months before bio-st

Liver-first strategy for synchronous colorectal liver metastases : an intention-to-treat analysis

Background The liver-first strategy signifies resection of liver metastases before the primary colorectal cancer. The aim of the present study was to compare failure to complete intended treatment and survival in liver-first and classical strategies. Methods All patients with colorectal cancer and synchronous liver metastases planned for sequential radical surgery in a single institution between 2

How Much Will a Data Revolution in Development Cost?

The UN High Level Panel has called for a data revolution. The world’s population should be counted, measured, weighed, and evaluated. This information should be collected, compiled, aggregated, and presented in such a form that it can usefully inform policy-makers and citizens in aggregated forms, and disaggregated according to region, village, gender, and population group. It is tempting to think

Business Cycle Synchronization In Europe : Evidence From The Scandinavian Currency Union

In this paper we study business cycle synchronization in the three Scandinavian countries Denmark, Norway and Sweden prior to, during and after the Scandinavian Currency Union 1873–1913. We find that the degree of synchronization tended to increase during the currency union, thus supporting earlier empirical evidence. Estimates of factor models suggest that common Scandinavian shocks are important

Stage Appropriations of Shakespeare’s Major Tragedies, 1979-2010

This dissertation examines appropriations of five of Shakespeare’s tragedies (King Lear, Macbeth, Othello, Romeo and Juliet and Hamlet), written for the stage between 1979 and 2010 and set in Shakespeare’s playworlds. The aim of the study is to investigate how these appropriations are used as a strategy for discussing issues that are central both to Shakespeare’s plays and to the present gender-po

Pathophysiology of extracellular haemoglobin : use of animal models to translate molecular mechanisms into clinical significance

The blood's major gas exchange is carried out by haemoglobin, a haeme protein that binds iron and oxygen and can have potentially dangerous side-effects due to redox reactions. Haemoglobin is a very abundant molecule with a concentration of 150 g/l in whole blood, resulting in almost one kg haemoglobin in an adult human body. Normal turnover of red blood cells results in significant haemoglobin re

Bisphenol A concentration in human saliva related to dental polymer-based fillings

Objectives: The aims of this study were to quantify salivary concentrations of bisphenol A (BPA) and to assess if presence of dental composite fillings is associated with higher BPA levels in saliva. Materials and methods: Twenty individuals with six or more tooth surfaces filled with polymer-based dental materials (composite group) and 20 individuals without any polymer-based materials (control g

Attraction of the larval parasitoid Spintherus dubius (Hymenoptera : Pteromalidae) to feces volatiles from the adult apion weevil host

The behavioral response of the larval parasitoid Spintherus dubius (Hymenoptera: Pteromalidae) to volatile compounds derived from its Apion weevil hosts was investigated in two-choice bioassays. Odor source candidates were the larval and adult stages of weevils, clover flowers, and feces from adult weevils. Despite S. dubius being a larval parasitoid, the odor of weevil larvae isolated from the cl
