Electricity Meters for Coordinated Voltage Control in Medium Voltage Networks with Wind Power
During the last years the amount of electricity generated by Distributed Energy Resources (DER), especially wind turbines, has been increasing a lot. These Distributed Generation (DG) units are often connected to rural distribution networks, where they have a large impact on the voltage and the network losses. The network voltage at the customers point of connection is an important quality criteri

Recombinant amelogenin - Strategies for purification and protein processing
Amelogenin is an extracellular matrix protein involved in formation of enamel during early tooth development. By interacting with the forming enamel crystallites amelogenin affects their growth, so that highly elongated hydroxyapatite crystals are formed. Early during the enamel formation amelogenin is proteolytically processed, which is essential for correct enamel formation. However, the exact m
Frustrated Mom Kills Dragon: Motherhood, Emotions and Computer Games
Today an increasingly large and diverse audience spends more and more time and money on computer games; the actual player can now be anyone. Gameplay, whether it is raiding online in World of Warcraft, an evening of Guitar Hero in the living room with friends, or a quick round of Sudoku Master on the Nintendo DS while commuting home from work, has become part of the everyday life of millions of pe
Gas monitoring in human sinuses using tunable diode laser spectroscopy
We demonstrate a novel nonintrusive technique based on tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy to investigate human sinuses in vivo. The technique relies on the fact that free gases have spectral imprints that are about 10.000 times sharper than spectral structures of the surrounding tissue. Two gases are detected; molecular oxygen at 760 nm and water vapor at 935 nm. Light is launched fiber o

How library and information science can save the world and why to care! (Keynote presentation)
In her presentation she will focus on two interconnected issues. Firstly, she will argue for Library and Information Science’s unique suitability to function as a nexus between professions, policy makers and different research disciplines. Secondly, she will outline how informing about the environment, including on environmental protection and destruction, needs to be (re)framed in a way that deep
