The research interest of this Master’s thesis is public librarians’ work life. The purpose of the essay is to examine public librarians’ experiences of work enjoyment, their valuations of work enjoyment and work motivation factors, respectively. The research was done through a web-based survey that was mediated via the e-mailing list “Biblist” that reaches the majority of Sweden’s librarians. The

The Role of Psychosocial Work Environment and Time Management in Understanding Perceived Stress and Job Satisfaction in Office Work

In recent years an increase in stress and mental strain in the workplace has been reported for instance in office work (Arbetsmiljöverket, 2014). This study examined a model that combines concepts from Karasek and Theorell´s (1990) Job Demand-Control-Support model, which has earlier been related to stress, with Macan´s (1994) Time Management Behavioral model. The aim of the study was to investigat

Analytical and Numerical Study of Thermally Stratified Flow above a forest

In order for our energy consumption to be sustainable, we need to rely more and more on renewable energy resources, such as solar power and wind power. In Sweden, 69% of the land area is covered in forest. To open up the possibility of exploiting these forested areas for wind power production, it is desired to gain a better knowledge of the flow situation above forests. An analytical and a numeric

Domaren skall verka för detta genom att bl.a. uppträda professionellt, korA prosperous democratic legal state depends on the public’s confidence in the judiciary. Included in a judge’s duties is not only to judge fairly and in accordance with applicable law, but also to promote a strong confidence in the judiciary among the general public to fortify the common perception of the courts as fair and impartial. Judges shall act in accordance with these interests by conducti

Variable timing of cutting rollers

In this thesis a mechanical concept for variable relative rotation, here called timing, between two cutting rollers has been designed. This concept has then been compared to a concept using one servo motor per shaft. The clients would like to use rotary cutters to cut cardboard, but have had problems with the anvil wearing out on similar solutions. Therefore a solution where the timing between the

Zooplankton body size under warmer and more fluctuating climate: insights from a long-term mesocosm experiment

Body size is one of the most important traits of zooplankton. It affects their metabolism, life history and ecology and can eventually influence community and ecosystem processes. Higher and more fluctuating temperatures due to climate change are expected to have an influence on zooplankton size. Based on general empirical evidence, warmer temperatures may lead to smaller zooplankton, while temper

The thesis has resulted in a contribution to the agency theory regarding what motivates agents to act in line with principal's interests. Our study shows that the agents in the study, the directors, manage assignments optimally if they are also driven by interest and self- fulfillment. The thesis has also resulted in a framework of recommendations and coping strategies that guide the owners an

Do Good, Feel Good: Analyzing the performance motivation of community health workers in rural South Africa

This study contributes to fill the gap in the existing community health worker literature by offering a more nuanced perspective on performance motivation of healthcare workers from rural South Africa. Specifically, it focuses on the various work incentives and perceived organization support that shape work performance of healthcare workers and, therefore, organizational effectiveness. By followin

Partially Premixed Combustion with Methanol in a Heavy Duty Engine

PPC is a new combustion concept that combines high efficiency with low emissions. This thesis is based on experiments conducted with a heavy duty PPC engine that was ran on neat methanol. A fuel that might be a candidate for future engine propulsion in large scale. By varying the inlet pressure, the corresponding inlet temperatures were found for premixed combustion, i.e. combustion in HCCI mode.

The aim of this study was to examine if simplified linear analysis can be used to capture the complex and non-elastic behaviour that filled rubber exhibits. Linear analysis includes both linear elastic material models and a linear solving technique. The studied part in this thesis was a hose, connecting the air-inlet and turbo in a Scania truck engine. The studied material was a filled EPDM-rubber

Understanding Technology Adoption: The Case of Improved Cook Stoves in Bunga, Central Uganda

Promoters of improved cook stove technologies (ICS) argue that the use of these technologies offers several benefits such as improved health, fuel saving, reduction in green house gases emissions among others. Many of the studies exploring the use of improved cook stoves reveal a strong pro-diffusion bias towards these benefits, and few studies have investigated the adoption and use of ICS from th

Politics, Patronage and the Persistence of the Ruling Elite in post-UNTAC Cambodia

Cambodia’s ruling elite has now remained in power for over 30 years. Today, many scholars believe that this could be attributed to a set of complex and context-specific patron-client relations that intertwines to form the patronage structures that underpin the political system. However, despite this, the specific dynamics of Cambodia’s patronage structures are still considered underexplored. Here,
