ABSTRACT Ribonucleotide reductase (RNR) catalyzes the rate‐limiting step of dNTP production. The availability of finely tuned dNTP pools is very important to maintain genome stability during DNA synthesis for replication and repair. Therefore the activity of RNR is tightly regulated via various mechanisms. In yeast species RNR inhibitors proteins prevent the RNR activation in the G1 and G2 phases
