Development of an Ultrasensitive Capacitive DNA-sensor: A promising tool towards microbial diagnostics

Popular Abstract in English A handful of diseases-causing pathogenic microorganisms claim millions of lives worldwide each year, mainly due to limited diagnostic capabilities. The lack of simple, cost-effective, sensitive and rapid on-site diagnostic tools lead to delays in the diagnoses with a subsequent lag in treatment, which in turn can result in serious complications or even loss of lives. Fast and sensitive detection of pathogenic microbial cells is a highly important task in medical diagnostics, environmental analysis and evaluation of food safety. Accordingly, the idea of microorganism identification by the recognition of specific DNA sequence using electrochemical technique is one of the leading researches in the development of diagnostic devices. In other words, it should only

My article deals with the work of the St Joseph Sisters in the Nordic countries, particularly in Denmark and Sweden, from the sisters’ arrival in 1856 to the 1920:ies. Sketching the Invisible : Patterns of Church and City in Theodoret of Cyrrhus' Philotheos Historia

I dagens krigsdrabThe fundamental question in this work concerns the ideal relation between asceticism and society in a 5th c. writing (C.E.), the Philotheos Historia (PH), written in elaborate Greek by the learned bishop of Cyrrhus, Theodoret. This collection of saints’ stories tells about the lives of a number of ascetics who lived in the Eastern part of the Roman Empire, many of them close to Antioch. As these n

An Analysis of Sick Leave in Sweden using Panel Data 1985-1997

Since the beginning of the 1990's, sick leave benefits accruing from the tax-financed Swedish social security insurance have been reduced a number of times. In this paper we use data from the survey on the Household Market and Non-market activities to estimate a fixed effects negative binomial model. We find a direct relationship between the rate of compensation and the amount of sick leave taken

Interlaboratory tests on thermal foot models

In order to compare measurements in different laboratories and with different models and measuring principles a small Round Robin test was suggested. 12 test institutions were able to join the study (with foot model sizes from 254 mm to 275 mm and test boot sizes from 41 to 44). We got also a declaration of interest from 2 other institutes that were not able to carry out the tests now. A database

Vägen mot växelkursstabilitet. Svensk penning- och valutapolitik 1834-1880.

This licentiate thesis deals with the development of monetary- and foreign exchange rate policies in Sweden between 1834 and 1880. Policies are analysed in the framework of a specie standard. Changes in markets and market conditions were crucial in the development of the policies in 19th century Sweden. Sweden went from a silver standard regime, based almost exclusively on rules, to a gold standar
