This essay examines how citizenship is constructed and used in contemporary Swedish political discourse and legal practice. Drawing on poststructuralist, postcolonial and feminist perspectives, we analyse selected political policy documents and court rulings from the Migration Court of Appeal. Using two complementary tools of discourse analysis – “What’s the Problem Represented to be?” (WPR) appro
The Impact of U.S. Sanctions on Iran’s Non-Oil Exports, 2010–2012
This thesis investigates the impact of U.S. sanctions imposed between 2010 and 2012 on Iran’s non-oil exports. Using the Synthetic Control Method (SCM) as the baseline strategy, complemented by an Event Study and a standard Difference-in-Differences (DiD) model, the analysis shows that sanctions led to a sharp and persistent decline in Iran’s export performance relative to a counterfactual scenari
The layers of the knowledge used in social work practice and the continuous need to ‘reinvent the wheel’. Exploring the understanding and perception of social workers in the financial assistance department on their knowledge use.
The financial assistance department of social service organisations is a department where variations in experiences and perspectives regarding the work are apparent. Social workers in this department are the primary practitioners and enforcers of decisions regarding applicants’ cases, making their perspectives and understanding of the knowledge they use valuable to have insight into, and to gain s
A Review on Biobased AB-Type Aromatic Polyesters: Monomer Design, Polymer Synthesis, and Material Properties
In the search for sustainable alternatives to fossil-based aromatic polyesters like PET, there has been a growing attention to design and synthesize bio-based aromatic AB-type monomers for the development of versatile biobased polyesters with suitable properties toward various applications. This review focuses on the molecular design and synthesis of biobased aromatic AB-type monomers, their polym
Saviors Of Europe? The Self-Perception of the Visegrad Group between Migration and the War in Ukraine
The Visegrad Group (V4) has often portrayed itself as the protectors and saviors of European civilization. This thesis investigates how that collective self‐image evolved across two major crises: the migration crisis (2015-2019), and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine (2022–2025). Using critical discourse analysis of prime‐ministerial speeches and press releases, and drawing on securitization theory, so
Memory between buildings: Post-accession semiotic transformation of public spaces in Riga and Tallinn
The thesis analyses four public spaces in Riga and Tallinn which have undergone architectural and therefore semiotic transformation between 2004 and 2024. The analysis is guided by a theoretical framework which combines concepts of (transnational) memory studies and urban semiotics. Together, these emphasise a distinction between the memory of transnational space, the local place, and the material
A Story in Architecture: the Book, the Mind and the Built
I have always been an avid reader and I have often found myself wondering how other people picture the same spaces that are described. In many cases, the built environment is crucial to build a f ictional world for a story to take place, but sometimes it plays a particularly essential part in understanding the story, its characters and events. In these books, the architecture itself is the story.
RELATIONER I RÖRELSE: En fallstudie av mellananvändningen på Botulfsplatsen
This thesis examines the temporary use and development of Botulfsplatsen, a future central public square in Lund, Sweden. Previously a node for city buses, the municipality decided to repurpose the site for interim use as a way to test and activate the square prior to its permanent reconstruction. Drawing on theories of placemaking, temporary use, and relational geography, the study addresses two
In this paper we dive deep into the interwar agricultural policys and how they became to be. The aim is a better understanding of how the state thought the future to be in a time where change happened everywhere. From 1950 to 1970 around 131 000 agricultural units disappeared, far too many to be explained by natural causes. Through an analysis of several government public investigations we come to
Nästa, Alsike.
This report explores how the design of a contemporary railway station can contribute to the identity and functionality of a small, relatively unbuilt location like Alsike, a growing town in Knivsta municipality. The primary question centers around how a modern station, beyond its main function as a transport hub, can serve as a gathering point, integrate different functions and reduce the railway’
Markets with limits - Interpersonality and autonomy in the context of markets.
This thesis explores the philosophical implications of commodification, focusing on the claim made by Jason Brennan and Peter Jaworski in Markets Without Limits (2013) that ”if you can have it, you can buy it; if you can give it away, you can sell it.” Their thesis argues for the moral permissibility of commodifying any good or service that is already permissible to exchange without monetary compe
A study of the magnetic phase transition at the silicon surface of TbIr2Si2 using ARPES
I de översta lagrSpin-polarized two-dimensional electron states (2DES) at the silicon terminated surfaces of LnT2Si2 compounds, show promising spintronics applications due to their magnetically controllable transport properties. In this master thesis, the objective is to study TbIr2Si2 crystals, which are a member of the LnT2Si2 family, and their magnetic ordering transition. In these systems spin orbit and exchan
Ljudlek
This project explores how tactile interaction can lower the barrier to digital sound creation by replacing conventional musical interfaces with abstract, touch-sensitive surfaces. Drawing from a personal challenges with the technical constraints of traditional and digital instruments, the work addresses how rigid systems often inhibit creative flow, especially for users without theoretical trainin
Convex Polytopes: A group theoretic and a graph theoretic perspective
We present classical results for convex polytopes. After reviewing quaternions, we apply these algebraic tools to polyhedral graphs. In 1891, Eberhard wondered if there exists a trivalent polyhedron with an odd number of multitrivalent faces. In 1964, Motzkin was able to find a solution to the problem. He used the group formed by the 24 units in the ring of Hurwitz quaternion integers to obtain th
This work examines the application of time geography to understand children's everyday and independent mobility. Over the past few decades, children's daily lives have become increasingly institutionalized, filled with organized activities aimed at maximizing their development. Concurrently, children's independent mobility has decreased, with parents often driving them to various activ
Analysis and Optimization of Airy Beams for Resilient Communications and Wireless Power Transfer
This thesis investigates the focusing performance and robustness of auto-focusing Airy beams in near-field wireless communication scenarios. Through a combination of simulations using MATLAB (Matrix Laboratory, a numerical computing environment) and full-wave electromagnetic simulations in FEKO (Feldberechnung für Körper mit beliebiger Oberfläche, an electromagnetic solver developed by Altair), th

Based on six interviews with employees at cultural institutions, this study investigates how events in support of Palestine were restricted by the Copenhagen municipality in the period between November 2023 and March 2024. Following Braun and Clarke’s (2022) approach to reflexive thematic analysis, I analyse the interviews and draw on theoretical perspectives regarding anti-Palestinian racism, cri
Optimal stabilization policy: A comparison of an orthodox and a heterodox perspective
This essay examines how the choice of theory and model affects the conclusions drawn regarding short run stabilization policy. This is done by comparing the ‘orthodox’ New Neoclassical Synthesis with the ‘heterodox’ post-Keynesian theory as well as their corresponding benchmark-models using scenario analyses. We model both a small and a large shock to autonomous investments and compare the policy
