The effect of the tailbiting restriction on feedback encoders

It is shown that, for short and moderate relative tailbiting lengths and high signal-to-noise ratios, systematic feedback encoders have better bit error performance than nonsystematic feedforward encoders. Conditions for when tailbiting will fail are given and it is described how the encoder starting state can be obtained for feedback encoders in both controller and observer canonical form

Wallanderland.

HMI Design. SASPENCE Technical Report C20.52. PReVENT Consortium.

The objectives of this activity were to propose a number of alternative HMI solutions (visual, auditory and haptic) for the concept of Safe Speed and Safe Distance and to carry out a pre-screening procedure with a number of test persons in order to give recommendations for the alternative building elements of the SASPENCE “warning-package” consisting of the combination of these modes to be tested

Analysis of the Software supply chain from a logistics control point of view

In industries like high-tech and automotive, increasingly more of the product value delivered to the customer is based on a combination of hardware (HW) and software (SW), where SW handles much of the differentiation of capacity and features. The “logistics process” of SW, especially when it merges with HW along the process, has so far been little studied but a problem noticed is the difficulties

Family Commitment among Fast-Track Professionals in Sweden, 1991–2005. A Longitudinal Register-Based Study of How Continued Childbearing and Union Stability Vary Among Groups of High-Achieving Women and Men.

This paper studies family commitment among fast-track professionals and explores how continued childbearing and union stability vary among high-achieving men and women. The focus is on three particular fast-track professional groups (e.g., lawyers, medical doctors and Ph.D.s), that face quite different career structures and work environments that may affect family life. The determinants of having

To Explore the Divine Will in Prayer

How were holy persons selected as recipients for prayer? Most often, miracle stories only tell of the praying person having already made the decision of recipient, but there were exceptions from this pattern: the habit of casting lots to explore the divine will of whom to address in prayer. Lot casting, a seldom studied religious habit will be in focus in my paper.

Entrepreneurship in the Age of Big Data: A Researcher's Guide to Data Mining, Inference and Prediction

The bottleneck of Big Data today is the analysis of large amounts of information, including data mining, inference and prediction. Entrepreneurship researchers who want to take advantage of Big Data, need tools and workflows to find important trends and patterns within massive data sets, and understand "what the data tell us." Here, we apply gradient boosting to big, register-based data, and estab

Three-year outcome of rivastigmine treatment in Alzheimer's disease in a routine clinical setting.

Objectives: Long-term, placebo-controlled studies of cholinesterase inhibitors (ChEIs) in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) are not permitted for ethical reasons. Therefore, the advancement of knowledge on longitudinal outcomes in different domains warrants well-designed naturalistic studies. The aim of this study was to explore the 3-year effectiveness of rivastigmine treatment. Methods: The Swedish Alzhe
