Validation of the BOADICEA model for predicting the likelihood of carrying pathogenic variants in eight breast and ovarian cancer susceptibility genes
BOADICEA is a comprehensive risk prediction model for breast and/or ovarian cancer (BC/OC) and for carrying pathogenic variants (PVs) in cancer susceptibility genes. In addition to BRCA1 and BRCA2, BOADICEA version 6 includes PALB2, CHEK2, ATM, BARD1, RAD51C and RAD51D. To validate its predictions for these genes, we conducted a retrospective study including 2033 individuals counselled at clinical
Gender-based Violence and Sexual Harassment against Women and Girls in the World of Entertainment: an analysis of the K-Εntertainment industry.
This paper examines the phenomenon of gender-based violence and sexual harassment against women and girls in the world of entertainment from the perspective of international human rights law, and attempts to prove that ILO C190 benefits women in the industry, from the aspect of providing a more inclusive, extended and efficient legal framework. The research is focused on the Republic of Korea, it
Rainfall estimation in the Chikugo River Basin by Atmospheric downscaling using artificial networks
For the proper water resources management of the Chikugo River basin, the prediction of both drought and heavy rainfall needs to be carried out by the conventional and engineering method which can be useful to for the practitioners who work on the water resources management and flood control. A relatively simple and efficient way to estimate local and regional rainfall, as well as other hydrometeo

Immigrant Entrepreneurship in Sweden: How the ethnic background of entrepreneurs in Sweden affects their financing choices to fund their ventures
High Exposure to Perfluoroalkyl Substances and Antibody Responses to SARS-CoV-2 mRNA Vaccine-an Observational Study in Adults from Ronneby, Sweden
BACKGROUND: Per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) are widely used, environmentally ubiquitous, and stable chemicals that have been associated with lower vaccine-induced antibody responses in children; however, data on adults are limited. The drinking water from one of the two waterworks in Ronneby, Sweden, was heavily contaminated for decades with PFAS from firefighting foams, primarily perfl
Better with GPs as managers? – Variation in perceptions of feedback messages, goal-clarity and performance across managers in Swedish primary care
Primary care in several countries is developing towards team-based and multi-professional care, requiring leadership and management capabilities at the primary care practice level. This article reports findings from a study of primary care managers in Sweden, focusing variation in performance and perceptions of feedback messages and goal-clarity, depending on managers’ professional background.
Urodrill - a novel MRI-guided endoscopic biopsy technique to sample and molecularly classify muscle-invasive bladder cancer without fractionating the specimen during transurethral resection
The current diagnostic pathway for patients with muscle-invasive bladder cancer (MIBC), which involves with computed tomography urography, cystoscopy, and transurethral resection of the bladder (TURB) to histologically confirm MIBC, delays definitive treatment. The Vesical Imaging-Reporting and Data System (VI-RADS) has been suggested for MIBC identification using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI),
Minimal reporting guideline for research involving eye tracking (2023 edition)
A guideline is proposed that comprises the minimum items to be reported in research studies involving an eye tracker and human or non-human primate participant(s). This guideline was developed over a 3-year period using a consensus-based process via an open invitation to the international eye tracking community. This guideline will be reviewed at maximum intervals of 4 years.
Analyses of a 238-year long monthly precipitation time sequence by use of filtering techniques
This study aims at investigating the occurrence and characteristics of drought patterns by analyzing a 238-year long monthly precipitation time sequence observed at Lund in Sweden using an ordinary Kalman filter (OKF) and an adaptive Kalman filter (AKF). The OKF identifies the periods (in the time sequence) with anomalous precipitation by comparing the observed and average precipitation patterns.

Mast Cell-Mediated Orchestration of Airway Epithelial Responses in Chronic Respiratory Diseases
Chronic respiratory diseases, such as asthma, are an increasing health issue worldwide and cause about 3.9 million deaths annually. Despite this, little is know about the molecular mechanisms underpinning disease pathogenesis. Bronchial and alveolar remodeling and impaired epithelial function are typical characteristics of chronic respiratory diseases. In these patients, an increased number of mas
Creation of distinctive Bax-lipid complexes at mitochondrial membrane surfaces drives pore formation to initiate apoptosis
Apotosis is an essential process tightly regulated by the Bcl-2 protein family where proapoptotic Bax triggers cell death by perforating the mitochondrial outer membrane. Although intensively studied, the molecular mechanism by which these proteins create apoptotic pores remains elusive. Here, we show that Bax creates pores by extracting lipids from outer mitochondrial membrane mimics by formation
The intra- and inter-day repeatability of corneal densitometry measurements in subjects with keratoconus and in healthy controls
The healthy cornea is transparent, however, disease can affect its structure, rendering it more or less opaque. The ability to assess the clarity of the cornea objectively could thus be of considerable interest for keratoconus patients. It has previously been suggested that densitometry can be used to diagnose early keratoconus, and that the values of densitometry variables increase with increasin
Prognostic value of peak work rate indexed by left ventricular diameter
Left ventricular diameter (LVEDD) increases with systematic endurance training but also in various cardiac diseases. High exercise capacity associates with favorable outcomes. We hypothesized that peak work rate (Wpeak) indexed to LVEDD would carry prognostic information and aimed to evaluate the association between Wpeak/LVEDDrest and cardiovascular mortality. Wpeak/LVEDDrest (W/mm) was calculate
