Unified Biosignal Acquisition in Virtual Reality - An Experimental Platform for EEG, EMG, and Joint Angle Data Collection

This thesis presents the development and evaluation of a virtual reality (VR) environment designed for integrated EEG, EMG, and joint movement data collection. The system combines immersive VR with biosignal acquisition technologies, including the Unicorn Hybrid Black EEG, the Myo Armband for electromyography and inertial sensing, and the Cyberglove for hand joint tracking. The goal was to create

Globalt problem – Lokala lösningar - en explorativ studie gällande det kommunala klimatarbetet hos mindre kommuner

Mindre kommuner är i uppstartsfasen med sitt klimatarbete. Hur ser klimatarbetet ut i mindre kommuner? There is scientific consensus today on the importance of local climate work. Many studies have investigated the mechanisms behind effective climate work and what makes some cities and large municipalities the frontrunners in driving progressive climate agendas. While this area of local climate work is well researched there is little research about how climate work looks like in small (non-rural) m

Formalizing Quantitative Risk Analysis: Probabilistic Foundations and Monte Carlo Methods

DennQuantitative Risk Analysis (QRA) for hazardous materials facilities remains dominated by event tree partitioning into discrete scenarios, with many calculations performed manually. This study formalizes the classical individual and societal risk metrics within the framework of probability theory. The resulting framework enables deeper theoretical inquiry and makes underlying assumptions explicit.

LIGHT/TNFSF14 Levels in Carotid Plaques Are Associated With Symptomatic Cerebrovascular Disease

Background and Purpose Plaque rupture is the underlying cause of most cardiovascular events, such as stroke and myocardial infarction. The co-stimulatory molecule LIGHT (tumor necrosis factor superfamily member 14, TNFSF14) has been detected in foam cell-rich regions of atherosclerotic plaques, but whether it has a role in plaque stability is not known. This study investigates the association betw

Brexit as a Driver of European Disintegration : Institutional Reform and Differentiated Integration

This study investigates the disintegrative impact of Brexit on the European Union’s institutional framework. Disintegration may occur in the form of other member states leaving the union. Still, it can also manifest in terms of institutional reform in the direction of increased intergovernmentalism and executive dominance, resulting in a renationalization of the EU’s policymaking competences. The

Bromelain : Targeting dental biofilm through dual approach of protein interaction and in vitro validation

Bromelain, a proteolytic enzyme isolated from pineapple, is renowned for its therapeutic applications. The present work was designed to investigate the anti-microbial potential of bromelain against dental plaque-causing microbes via in silico and in vitro studies. Firstly, in silico study was conducted where docking between bromelain and eight microbial growthpromoting proteins: Third fibronectin

Improving semi-device-independent randomness certification by entropy accumulation

Certified randomness guaranteed to be unpredictable by adversaries is central to information security. The fundamental randomness inherent in quantum physics makes certification possible from devices that are only weakly characterized, i.e., requiring little trust in their implementation. It was recently shown that the amount of certifiable randomness can be improved using the so-called entropy ac

Predictability effects in the processing of negation : an ERP study

To examine whether processing of negated meanings is facilitated in highly predictable contexts and proceeds incrementally rather than with a delay, we asked participants to read highly constraining sentences containing negated adjectives (e.g., awake/responding/commercial) that were either strongly expected in a high-cloze condition (awake), weakly expected in a low-cloze condition (responding),

Participating in decision-making at the end of life: The self-reported ability of people with cancer across 11 countries

ObjectivesUncertainty among healthcare providers about patients’ ability to make care decisions is a barrier to shared decision-making. We aimed to assess the self-reported decision-making ability of patients with cancer at the end of life.MethodsData from 11 countries of adults with a limited life expectancy and cancer as the primary diagnosis were used. Participants completed a questionnaire, in

Operando APXPS for direct probing of Li ion battery LCO electrode/electrolyte interface chemistry during lithiation/delithiation

The real-time interface chemistry between the lithium cobalt oxide (LCO) working electrode and the LiClO4/propylene carbonate (PC) electrolyte is investigated during lithiation/delithiation using dip-and-pull ambient pressure photoelectron spectroscopy (APXPS). The APXPS results appear to exhibit the seldom discussed Co2+ state in the LCO structure, where the operando measurements indicate electro

The Dawn of Rights : Early Efforts to Promote Human Rights Education in Sweden 1948–1966

This article explores efforts to integrate human rights into Swedish education during the early post-war era (1948–1966). Focusing on how human rights were conceptualized and justified, the study addresses a significant gap in the historiography of human rights education by investigating its development prior to the 1970s.By examining materials from the National Board of Education, and the first tThis article explores efforts to integrate human rights into Swedish education during the early post-war era (1948–1966). CCE under nonrandom heterogeneity

In panel data regression models, it is often not reasonable to expect all cross-sectional units to have identical responses to explanatory variables, or that all relevant variables have been properly accounted for. These concerns have recently motivated the use of interactive effects models with heterogeneous slopes. The workhorse of this literature is the common correlated effects approach, which

Improved Stochastic Texture Filtering Through Sample Reuse

Stochastic texture filtering (STF) has re-emerged as a technique that can bring down the cost of texture filtering of advanced texture compression methods, e.g., neural texture compression. However, during texture magnification, the swapped order of filtering and shading with STF can result in aliasing. The inability to smoothly interpolate material properties stored in textures, such as surface n

Proton beam therapy in paediatric radiation oncology : Defining the limitations, uncertainties and optimisation of treatment plans

Proton Beam Therapy (PBT) is an increasingly utilised modality for treating tumours by utilising the physical properties of accelerated proton beams. This review explores the development of PBT, its dosimetric advantages over conventional x-ray-based radiotherapy, and the rationale behind its use in paediatric oncology whilst simultaneously considering the various challenges associated with its de
