Heterocontact-Triggered 1H to 1T′ Phase Transition in CVD-Grown Monolayer MoTe2 : Implications for Low Contact Resistance Electronic Devices

Single-layer molybdenum ditelluride (MoTe2) has attracted attention due to the smaller energy difference between the semiconducting (1H) and semimetallic (1T′) phases with respect to other two-dimensional transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs). Understanding the phenomenon of polymorphism between these structural phases is of great fundamental and practical importance. In this paper, we report a

Ultrafast Infrared-to-Visible Photon Upconversion on Plasmon/TiO2 Solid Films

Optical upconversion via a multiphoton absorption process converts incoherent low-energy photons to shorter wavelengths. In this contribution, we report a solid-state thin film for infrared-to-visible upconversion composed of plasmonic/TiO2 interfaces. When excited at λ = 800 nm, three photons are absorbed, leading to the excitation of TiO2 trap states into an emissive state in the visible domain.

Methodology for fast development of digital solutions in integrated continuous downstream processing

The methodology for production of biologics is going through a paradigm shift from batch-wise operation to continuous production. Lot of efforts are focused on integration, intensification, and continuous operation for decreased foot-print, material, equipment, and increased productivity and product quality. These integrated continuous processes with on-line analytics become complex processes, whi

Study of mycoprotein extraction methods and its functional properties

The trend of using protein produced from microorganisms to be a meat substitute or replacing other meat alternative sources such as soy and pea is becoming increasingly popular because of its possibility to produce meat-like food products and other functional properties such as its emulsifying properties. The effective use of mycoprotein for food applications requires liberation of cell protein by

Interaction between defossilisation of basic industries and relocation : Scenario-based explorative and normative transition pathways to electrification for European basic industries and specific clusters

The steel and chemical production industries are the largest industrial emitters of greenhouse gases in the European Union, together accounting for half of the EU’s industrial greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. A promising strategy for achieving deep GHG emissions reductions is the electrification of these two industries, which would depend on the rapid expansion of renewable electricity supply. Such

Protease-Responsive Hydrogel Microparticles for Intradermal Drug Delivery

Protease-responsive multi-arm polyethylene glycol-based microparticles with biscysteine peptide crosslinkers (CGPGG↓LAGGC) were obtained for intradermal drug delivery through inverse suspension photopolymerization. The average size of the spherical hydrated microparticles was ∼40 μm after crosslinking, making them attractive as a skin depot and suitable for intradermal injections, as they are read

Extending universal health coverage to informal workers : A systematic review of health financing schemes in low- and middle-income countries in Southeast Asia

Achieving universal health coverage (UHC) is a priority of most low- and middle-income countries, reflecting governments’ commitments to improved population health. However, high levels of informal employment in many countries create challenges to progress toward UHC, with governments struggling to extend access and financial protection to informal workers. One region characterized by a high preva

Acoustofluidic Properties of Polystyrene Microparticles

Acoustophoresis has become a powerful tool to separate microparticles and cells, based on their material and biophysical properties, and is gaining popularity in clinical and biomedical research. One major application of acoustophoresis is to measure the compressibility of cells and small organisms, which is related to their contents. The cell compressibility can be extracted from the acoustic mob

Clinical Characterization of Patients Diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and Undergoing Conservative Management : A PIONEER Analysis Based on Big Data

Background: Conservative management is an option for prostate cancer (PCa) patients either with the objective of delaying or even avoiding curative therapy, or to wait until palliative treatment is needed. PIONEER, funded by the European Commission Innovative Medicines Initiative, aims at improving PCa care across Europe through the application of big data analytics. Objective: To describe the cli

The structure of songbird MHC class I reveals antigen binding that is flexible at the N-terminus and static at the C-terminus

Long-distance migratory animals such as birds and bats have evolved to withstand selection imposed by pathogens across the globe, and pathogen richness is known to be particularly high in tropical regions. Immune genes, so-called Major Histocompatibility Complex (MHC) genes, are highly duplicated in songbirds compared to other vertebrates, and this high MHC diversity has been hypothesised to resul

Analyzing polysemiosis : Language, gesture, and depiction in two cultural practices with sand drawing

Human communication is by default polysemiotic: it involves the spontaneous combination of two or more semiotic systems, the most important ones being language, gesture, and depiction. We formulate an original cognitive-semiotic framework for the analysis of polysemiosis, contrasting this with more familiar systems based on the ambiguous term "multimodality."To be fully explicit, we developed a co

Finding Small Complete Subgraphs Efficiently

(I) We revisit the algorithmic problem of finding all triangles in a graph G= (V, E) with n vertices and m edges. According to a result of Chiba and Nishizeki (1985), this task can be achieved by a combinatorial algorithm running in O(mα) = O(m3 / 2) time, where α= α(G) is the graph arboricity. We provide a new very simple combinatorial algorithm for finding all triangles in a graph and show that

6 compared with 12 weeks treatment in the von Rosen splint is sufficient for Barlow and Ortolani positive hipsa comparative study of 237 neonates

Background and purpose — At our institution, new-borns with Barlow or Ortolani positive hips have been treated for 12 weeks with the von Rosen abduction splint until 2012 when the treatment length was halved. We inves-tigate whether acetabular development at 12 months of age and complications differ between hips treated with the von Rosen splint for 6 compared with 12 weeks. Patients and methods —
