Fatou and brothers Riesz theorems in the infinite-dimensional polydisc

We study the boundary behavior of functions in the Hardy spaces on the infinite-dimensional polydisc. These spaces are intimately related to the Hardy spaces of Dirichlet series. We exhibit several Fatou and Marcinkiewicz- Zygmund type theorems for radial convergence of functions with Fourier spectrum supported on N0∞∪(−N0∞). As a consequence one obtains easy new proofs of the brothers F. and M.

Survival in common cancers defined by risk and survival of family members

Studies on survival between familial and sporadic cancers have been inconclusive and only recent data on a limited number of cancers are available on the concordance of survival between family members. In this review, we address these questions by evaluating the published and unpublished data from the nation-wide Swedish Family-Cancer Database and a total of 13 cancer sites were assessed. Using sp

Influence of personal therapy on learning and development of psychotherapeutic skills

The aim of the present study was to investigate psychodynamic psychotherapists’ experience of the influence of personal therapy on professional growth during training with a focus on the acquisition of knowledge and the development of psychotherapeutic skills. Thematic analysis was conducted on interviews with former students (N=10) at two training institutes for psychoanalytic psychotherapy. The

Generalization of Parameter Recovery in Binocular Vision for a Planar Scene

In this paper, we consider a mobile platform with two cameras directed towards the floor. In earlier work, this specific problem geometry has been considered under the assumption that the cameras have been mounted at the same height. This paper extends the previous work by removing the height constraint, as it is hard to realize in real-life applications. We develop a method based on an equivalent

On chemical and diffusional interactions between PCBN and superalloy Inconel 718 : Imitational experiments

During a metal cutting process, chemical wear can become the dominant mechanism of tool degradation under the high temperatures and contact pressures that arise between the tool and the metal workpiece. This study focuses on the chemical and diffusional interactions between superalloy Inconel 718 and cubic boron nitride (cBN) tool material with and without TiC binder. It covers thermodynamic model

Onyx Embolization for Occlusion of the Proximal Internal Iliac Artery During EVAR in Patients with Unsuitable Landing Zones in the Common Iliac Artery

Background: Twenty percent of the patients with AAA have an aneurysm involving the common iliac arteries. Large common iliac diameter can be treated with an iliac branched device or extension of the stent graft to the external iliac artery with occlusion of the ipsilateral internal iliac artery (IIA) to prevent type 2 endoleaks. This study describes and evaluates a embolization technique using Ony

Mature neutrophils suppress T cell immunity in ovarian cancer microenvironment

Epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) often presents with metastases and ascites. Granulocytic myeloid-derived suppressor cells are an immature population that impairs antitumor immunity. Since suppressive granulocytes in the ascites of patients with newly diagnosed EOC were morphologically mature, we hypothesized that PMN were rendered suppressive in the tumor microenvironment (TME). Circulating PMN fr

The integrated palliative care outcome scale for patients with palliative care needs : Factors related to and experiences of the use in acute care settings

ObjectiveImplementation of patient-reported outcome measures for patients with palliative care needs is characterized by both enablers and barriers. The ways in which healthcare professionals experience the use of assessment tools is important. Our aims were to explore factors contributing to or hindering patients with palliative care needs in assessing their symptoms with the Integrated Palliativ

Membranes in food technology

The concept of membrane separation is widely established in nature using semi-permeable membranes for the separation of molecules. The theoretical foundations of membrane technology can be dated back to 1748, when Nollet discovered the effect of “osmosis” in relation to natural membranes, while Graham in 1833 developed the solution-diffusion model for diffusion of gases through semi-permeable memb

A decade of catheter ablation of cardiac arrhythmias in Sweden : ablation practices and outcomes

AIMS: Catheter ablation is considered the treatment of choice for many tachyarrhythmias, but convincing 'real-world' data on efficacy and safety are lacking. Using Swedish national registry data, the ablation spectrum, procedural characteristics, as well as ablation efficacy and reported adverse events are reported. METHODS AND RESULTS: Consecutive patients (≥18 years of age) undergoing catheter a

Bedside tests for predicting difficult airways : an abridged Cochrane diagnostic test accuracy systematic review

Although bedside screening tests are routinely used to identify people at high risk of having a difficult airway, their clinical utility is unclear. We estimated the diagnostic accuracy of commonly used bedside examination tests for assessing the airway in adult patients without apparent anatomical abnormalities scheduled to undergo general anaesthesia. We searched for studies that reported our pr

Extreme diversification of floral volatiles within and among species of Lithophragma (Saxifragaceae)

A major challenge in evolutionary biology is to understand how complex traits of multiple functions have diversified and codiversified across interacting lineages and geographic ranges. We evaluate intra- and interspecific variation in floral scent, which is a complex trait of documented importance for mutualistic and antagonistic interactions between plants, pollinators, and herbivores. We perfor

Association of CD11b + Monocytes and Anti-Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Injections in Treatment of Neovascular Age-Related Macular Degeneration and Polypoidal Choroidal Vasculopathy

Importance: CD11b + immune cells have been implicated in the formation of choroidal neovascularization in experimental studies on animals and disease-association studies on humans. However, the clinical importance of such observations remains unknown. Objective: To investigate whether the proportion of CD11b + circulating monocytes is associated with the number of anti-vascular endothelial grow

Randomized Trial of Sacroiliac Joint Arthrodesis Compared with Conservative Management for Chronic Low Back Pain Attributed to the Sacroiliac Joint

BACKGROUND: Sacroiliac joint pain is increasingly recognized as a cause of low back pain. We compared the safety and effectiveness of minimally invasive sacroiliac joint arthrodesis using triangular titanium implants and conservative management in patients with chronic sacroiliac joint pain. METHODS: This study was a prospective, multicenter randomized controlled trial of adults with chronic sacro

Variability in functional outcome and treatment practices by treatment center after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest : analysis of International Cardiac Arrest Registry

Purpose: Functional outcomes vary between centers after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) and are partially explained by pre-existing health status and arrest characteristics, while the effects of in-hospital treatments on functional outcome are less understood. We examined variation in functional outcomes by center after adjusting for patient- and arrest-specific characteristics and evaluated

From Substance Use Disorders in Life to Autopsy Findings : A Combined Case-Record and Medico-Legal Study

Objectives: Several studies have shown mortality and suicide risk in substance use disorders, and autopsy findings with respect to the used substances. However, there seems to be a gap in the knowledge about substances misused in life and at death at the within-person level. Methods: All consecutive, autopsied patients during 1993 to 1997, who had been in contact with the Addiction Centre in Malmö

Quantum interference in transport through almost symmetric double quantum dots

We theoretically investigate transport signatures of quantum interference in highly symmetric double quantum dots in a parallel geometry and demonstrate that extremely weak symmetry-breaking effects can have a dramatic influence on the current. Our calculations are based on a master equation in which quantum interference enters as nondiagonal elements of the density matrix of the double quantum do

Origin of the π -band replicas in the electronic structure of graphene grown on 4H -SiC(0001)

The calculated electronic band structure of graphene is relatively simple, with a Fermi surface consisting only of six Dirac cones in the first Brillouin zone - one at each K̄. In contrast, angle-resolved photoemission measurements of graphene grown on SiC(0001) often show six satellite Dirac cones surrounding each primary Dirac cone. Recent studies have reported two further Dirac cones along the

Immune challenge induces terminal investment at an early breeding stage in female zebra finches

The "terminal investment" hypothesis proposes that individuals with low future survival prospects will gain from increasing investment in the current reproductive event even though it will reduce the chances of future reproduction even further. Such investments have previously been found to occur mainly during the late stages of the breeding event, that is, encompassing a short period of elevated
