Studie

Pharma 4.0: A deep dive top management commitment to successful Lean 4.0 implementation in Ghanaian pharma manufacturing sector

The primary aim of this study is to assess the significance of top management commitment in the context of Lean 4.0 implementation within the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry in Ghana. The study seeks to understand and evaluate the overall effectiveness and achievements associated with adopting Lean 4.0. Employing a positivist mindset, the research utilizes an explanatory quantitative researc

Ett nytt direktiv för hållbThe European Union constantly strives to improve sustainability work in the region, where one of the focus areas is to maintain economic growth, while reducing the negative environmental impact, and improving social aspects and corporate governance. A new directive (CSRD) and reporting standard (ESRS) for sustainability reporting has been launched, which aims to strengthen the rules around the sus

Where am I? Where Will I be? What Singapore can teach anthropology about global place imaginaries

In an era defined by finite resources and increasing global interconnectivity, the strategic management of place is crucial for sustaining human life and ensuring a viable future. This paper explores the critical role of global imaginaries (collective understandings shaped by global networks) in shaping the identity and function of place in Singapore. Placemaking, the process by which spaces are t

Advanced Research Using New X-ray Sources

The Nordic summer school in synchrotron radiation science, Advanced Research Using New X-ray Sources, was held from June 13-21, 2011 in Sweden. The school was organized by MAX-lab with economic support from the Nordic Academy for Advanced Studies (NorFA) and the Swedish German Röntgen-Ångström consortium. The school was divided into two parts. The first lecture part was held at Odengården, a cosy

Historicizing the Historical Turn in Human Rights Studies : Origins, Inequality, and Neoliberalism in the Modern Epoch

Rancidity development in oat during industrial processing

To improve the shelf-life of food products rich in lipids, it is important to minimize the lipid oxidation that occurs during processing, since this oxidation not only decreases shelf-life but also induces off-flavors. To evaluate the oxidation of lipids in the production of one β-glucan-rich and one protein-rich food supplement made from oats (Avena sativa), the neutral and polar lipid profile, h

Synthesis of mannose oligosaccharides via reversal of the α-mannosidase reaction

Three naturally occurring isomers of the disaccharideO-α-D-mannosyl-D-mannoside were synthesized by reversing the hydrolytic activity of jack bean α-mannosidase at 75°C in a very high concentration of mannose. Higher oligosaccharides were also obtained at the later stages of the reaction. The maximum total yield of disaccharides was 37% (w/w) based on the total amount of saccharides.

Regenerative business strategies : A database and typology to inspire business experimentation towards sustainability

In a time marked by growing environmental and societal challenges, where multiple planetary boundaries are being crossed, the way we conduct business practices needs to be rethought. Regenerative business models offer a path towards a more responsible future by incorporating strategies that go beyond net zero and focus on actively restoring the natural and social systems they operate in, creating

Expanding the therapeutic potential of neuro(active)steroids : a promising strategy for hyperdopaminergic behavioral phenotypes

Imbalances in dopamine activity significantly contribute to the pathophysiology of several neuropsychiatric disorders, including addiction, ADHD, schizophrenia, impulse control disorders, and Parkinson's Disease. Neuro(active)steroids, comprising endogenous steroids that finely modulate neuronal activity, are considered crucial regulators of brain function and behavior, with implications in variou

Short photoperiods end autumn migration in a naïve diurnal migrant

Many migratory animals use daylength, or photoperiod, to signal when to migrate and transition between annual phenological states. Whether animals use photoperiod as a temporal or spatial cue while migrating, however, requires additional empirical support. We used hatch-year dunnocks, Prunella modularis (a songbird), caught during their first migration in southern Sweden to elucidate whether migra

In-Flight Tuning of Au-Sn Nanoparticle Properties

Multimetallic nanoparticles possess a variety of beneficial properties with potential relevance for various applications. These metallic nanoparticles can consist of randomly ordered alloys, which retain the properties of the constituting elements, or ordered intermetallics, which possess extended properties. Depending on the desired application, specific alloys or intermetallic compounds are requ

Towards a data-driven model of hadronization using normalizing flows

We introduce a model of hadronization based on invertible neural networks that faithfully reproduces a simplified version of the Lund string model for meson hadronization. Additionally, we introduce a new training method for normalizing flows, termed MAGIC, that improves the agreement between simulated and experimental distributions of high-level (macroscopic) observables by adjusting single-emiss

Dynamic network reconstruction from heterogeneous datasets

Performing multiple experiments is common when learning internal mechanisms of complex systems. These experiments can include perturbations of parameters or external disturbances. A challenging problem is to efficiently incorporate all collected data simultaneously to infer the underlying dynamic network. This paper addresses the reconstruction of dynamic networks from heterogeneous datasets under

Unreliable V2X communication in cooperative driving : Safety times for emergency braking

Cooperative driving is a promising paradigm to improve traffic efficiency and safety. In congested traffic scenarios, such cooperation allows for safe maneuvering and driving with small inter-vehicle spatial gaps. The vehicles involved coordinate their movements in real-time and continuously update each other about their maneuver execution status by means of Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communicati

Breaking Linguistic boundaries : A Case Study on Teachers’ Code-switching in the SFI Classroom for Adults

In recent years, researchers worldwide have become increasingly interested in the phenomenon of code-switching in the multilingual classroom. The paper aims to try to understand when and why teachers in Swedish for Immigrants (SFI) schools code-switch in their classrooms. It analyses the methods and reasons for teachers’ code-switching in the SFI classroom. A case study was conducted by means of a

Multi-Species Entanglement: Human- wildlife Interactions

The paper applies Actor-Network Theory to analyze the entangled stories of wildlife and various human actors within China’s Tangjiahe part of Giant Panda National Park). I explore how wildlife interacts with different actors across hunting networks, rural life networks, and tourism networks, illustrating how the role of wildlife is shaped by the relationships they are part of and how the lives of
